Case study – Gender IQ, Aon.
Hal Shaw, Director
Need
Aon’s business resource group, GenderIQ was looking to run virtual events celebrating IWD. Virginia was listed on the IWD website as a potential speaker, so we contracted her to discuss the possibly of hosting an event discussing education and gender stereotypes.
Process
We had several calls and video conference with her to discuss the event. Virginia produced an excellent proposal form, including an event overview, budget and unique gift ideas. We then used this to get sign off for the event from internal stakeholders.
Event
Virginia delivered a 50-minute virtual talk on “Educating in a world of gender stereotypes” followed by a 10minure Q&A (if only we had longer!). The talk was straightforward, non-judgemental and presented a dramatically eye-opening insight into how unconscious bias is causing us to limit opportunities for women almost from birth.
Virginia also built a communications pack for attendees with recommended reading, links and points of reference as a takeaway.
Outcomes
The evert had over 110 attendees and the feedback was amazing.
“What made the event so fascinating was the introduction of real-life examples, from clothing to toys to TV shows and books – it was truly eye-opening”
Conclusion
From start to finish Virginia was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We would highly recommend utilising Virginia for events. Her passion for change and honesty around her continued learning was admirable and shone through, even in the virtual world!
